Photovoltaic Solar Panels brochure(PDF) Standard PV Solar Panels for the UK & Ireland

The standard CareyGlass Solar 165w panel is made of mono-crystalline solar cells of 125 x 125mm embedded between tempered glass cover (3.2mm-AGF) and an encapsulant (EVA).

The solar panel is enclosed in an aluminium frame which gives it excellent structural strength and resistance to corrosion. The 165w solar panel comes with a 25-year power output warranty.

They are manufactured under the quality certified ISO 9001:2000, and undergo strict inspections.

Useful Design Points for Standard Solar Panels

By applying a few simple rules, the design team can play a very important role to maximise the solar potential of their client's site. The site layout should strive to give a southern orientation to as much buildings as possible. Buildings should be positioned and spaced so that they don't shade each other.

Spacing of solar arrays to avoid inter-shading

Solar Photovoltaic performance is particularly sensitive to shading. When installed on a flat roof or other horizontal surface, it is recommended to space the rows of modules so that they don't shade each other on 20 December at noon (lowest sun angle from horizontal i.e. 13.5°).

Installation Methods for Standard Solar Panels

Installation of Photovoltaic panels is extremely flexible and very fast. We offer a number of different installation options including on-roof, in-roof, flat-roof installation, ground mounted, bris soleil and facade. The use of aluminium and stainless steel means that all components are especially durable and corrosion-resistant.

On-roof

It is the most common installation type. Fast, secure and easy way of installation. With special roof anchors this method is suitable for most standard roofs.

In-roof

The in-roof installation combines the elegance of roof integration with time-saving installation steps of on-roof installation.

Flat-roof

Flat-roof installation is a suitable option for bungalows, garages or open spaces. Installation is the same as for on-roof version with extension using flat-roof stands.

Ground mounted

Ground mounted will involve the same mounting system as flat roof

Canopy/Bris soleil

Bris soleil is a popular way of controlling solar gain and adding stylish features to a building. It is an overhead roof or structure that is able to provide shade or shelter. It is an architectural projection that provides weather protection. This is the installation method we used for the Irish Light Headquarters.

Facade

A facade simply refers to the front of the building when it is given special architectural treatment. An extremely innovative way to achieve this is with facade Photovoltaic grid connected glazing. This is sure to make any building stand out.

What's a Watt?
Tue, 07 Sep 2010 04:00:00 GMT 2010-09-07T04:00:00Z - The evolving discussion over renewable energy technologies has a tendency to get a bit technical. Most of us who work in the renewable energy space take for granted that many potential customers, investors and partners haven't spent any time in academia studying photovaltaics or wind turbines. In fact, they may not have a background in general energy metrics. Terms that once belonged to the realm of industry-insider jargon are quickly becoming standard. Thus, anyone who wants to follow the renewable versus traditional energy debate needs to know what we mean when we say "watt." Here, then, is a brief crash course in energy lingo.
